This man needs no introduction. Originally from Thakhek, Vilapanh Pete Sopraseuth is simply known as Pete Sakounkou. He has been living in America since 1980. Currently Columbus, Ohio is his home. Pete started singing in 1974 when he first touched the microphone back in Laos. However he really got into it in 1984 when he competed in Lao song contest singing “Hotel California”. He won first place! Pete once played with metal band and they’d played at clubs until 1988. He formed Lao Sound with a group of friends. They’d played up until 1996. He is able to play bass guitar, drum, rhythm guitar and of course he sings.

First song Dara was written by a friend and it released back in 1994. This song is also a title of one of his albums. Eighty percent of songs in Dara album wrote by Pete and the rest contributed by good friends. Twelve smooth country rock songs are in this Dara album. Out of all his songs, all time favourite is “ຄິດເຖີງບ້ານ”. He wrote this one in 1994.

The latest album is Locked & Loaded. This one actually has just been released. Ten brand songs are in the album. Three songs are written by a friend. It mixed down in LAOS.

Currently Pete is on mission touring across America covering more than twenty major cities. Before he hits the bright stage light, a couple tequilas certainly get him going.

Pete doesn’t mind at all being in a spot light if it’d help selling extra bit of CD. Being country music star is ok however he certainly doesn’t consider himself one. Pete just loves music. He has been selling promoting material such as t-shirts in well excess of 25,000 in less than four years and still counting. He is super delighted and thankful to fans worldwide for the supports.

Currently he is building a holiday house in Laos where he is originally from, back to his root where everything started. Whenever he was Vientiane he would play with his band. Pete will release metal CD later this year and it will be produced by the Sapphire in Vientiane.
